Flag hoisting ceremonies were held by various mukims nationwide to mark the start of the 39th National Day celebration. Mukim Mentiri held such a ceremony at the Kampung Mentiri National Housing Scheme Community Hall, 17th February.

The national flag was handed over by Yang Berhormat Lawi bin Hj Lamat, Member of the Legislative Council. This was followed by a convoy carrying the national flag from one mukim to another in Zone 3.
