A newborn baby girl was found alive with the umbilical cord still attached, yesterday morning at the bus stop at Jalan Pasir Berakas, Kampung Lambak. The baby girl was found by a taxi driver who saw a suspicious package placed on the bench of the bus stop. The taxi driver then stopped and found the package was a baby girl wrapped in a towel.

The taxi driver immediately called the 993 police emergency line and the case was received by personnel of Berakas Police Station and the Women and Child Abuse Criminal Investigation Unit, Criminal Investigation Department, Royal Brunei Police Force. The baby girl was immediately rushed to Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital by paramedics for a medical examination and is currently placed at the Special Care Baby Unit ward, SCBU for further monitoring. The 3.02 kilogramme baby girl is healthy and in a stable condition. The case is being investigated by the Women and Child Abuse Criminal Investigation Unit.
