COTABATO CITY - Around 10,000 residents in three remote communities are now benefiting from the newly completed PHP89.9 million road network in Matalam, North Cotabato, constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways in the Soccsksargen Region (DPWH-12). DPWH-12 Director Basir Ibrahim said Thursday that the completion of the San Isidro-San Roque-Estado Road marks a significant improvement in infrastructure and connectivity for the region. "The construction of this road signifies a milestone in improving the infrastructure and connectivity within the region," Ibrahim said in a statement. Completed last week, the road was formally opened Wednesday afternoon. The project, which began on March 21, 2023, included the construction of reinforced concrete pipe culverts and the installation of solar streetlights to ensure safety for motorists at night. Funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act, the road network serves about 10,000 daily users, including truck drivers, entrepreneurs, students, a nd employees traveling to the town center. The infrastructure has also streamlined the transport of goods, services, and agricultural products, fostering quicker and more efficient economic activity.
