Bagong Pilipinas fair to serve 253K people in E. Visayas



TACLOBAN CITY: At least 253,000 residents in Eastern Visayas provinces will benefit from the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) in this city and five other sites in the region from Aug. 2 to 3.

Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre said 241 members of the House of Representatives led by Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and hundreds of national government officials will come to this city to witness the delivery of services.

“A total of PHP1.25 billion worth of programs and services will be brought to the entire region, and PHP807.42 million of which will be in the form of cash assistance. It will truly benefit the local economy,” Acidre told reporters during a press briefing at the Leyte Normal University on Thursday.

With 56 participating national government agencies, some 328 services will be offered to more than 253,000 expected beneficiaries during the festival of services in BPSF Eastern Visayas.

Acidre said the BPSF here will be the most attended by House members, local officials such as governors
from Region 8 provinces, as well as several local government officials outside Eastern Visayas.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Labor and Employment will be conducting continuous payouts across Eastern Visayas in the next few days, which are expected to reach over a total of 140,000 individuals, amounting to PHP786 million.

The opening program will be held at the Leyte Sports Development Center in this city, on Aug. 2, where over 25 agencies will be conducting the ceremonial turnover of over 30 programs.

On the first night of the Serbisyo Fair, a Pagkakaisa concert will also be held at the RTR Plaza here with free admission. The concert is expected to draw a crowd of at least 50,000 people.

Other sites of the fair are in Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, and Biliran.

“We will make sure that services available in the main venue will also be available at satellite sites,” said BPSF Deputy Secretary General Ponyong Gabonada.
