Manila: A study for a decarbonization program in New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac will soon commence as the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) formalized its partnership with Danish firm Danfoss
BCDA president and chief executive officer Joshua Bingcang and Danfoss Philippines, Inc. general manager Allan Alfredo Almendrala signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Sept. 16 to conduct a study for decarbonization initiatives in BCDA’s flagship land development in New Clark City, according to a news release on Friday.
The program aims to roll out innovative and sustainable solutions to enhance urban development and improve the quality of life in New Clark City, eyed to be the country’s first green metropolis.
‘The signing of this MOU is a significant milestone in our endeavors to transform New Clark City into a smart, sustainable, and resilient metropolis,’ Bingcang said.
‘With this decarbonization program, we aim to position New Clark City as a model and benchmark for other cities in the
Philippines — and even around the globe — that are striving to achieve a net-zero transition.’
Under the partnership, Danfoss will lead the technical assessments, feasibility studies and business case preparation for the program.
The Danish firm will be sharing its technical expertise and knowledge on decarbonization, including latest carbon-neutral technologies.
Danfoss’ study will particularly focus on adopting smart store systems, district cooling systems and establishing a Sustainability Technology Center.

The signing was witnessed by Danish Ambassador to the Philippines Franz-Michael Mellbin.
