Bangkok: Active weather conditions are anticipated in Brunei Darussalam from December 20 to December 25 as part of the ongoing Northeast Monsoon season, which lasts until March 2026. Showers, occasionally heavy and thundery, are expected to affect several areas, particularly in the afternoon and at night, with the potential to persist into the early morning hours.
According to Radio Television Brunei, wind gusts of up to 45 kilometres per hour may occur during or near these heavy and thundery showers. Sea conditions over Brunei waters are predicted to be slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.4 to 1.2 metres. The public is advised to take precautions against the forecasted weather, as there is a significant risk of flash floods, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, and near river banks during periods of continuous heavy rain and high tide.
Additionally, there is a risk of landslides, fallen trees, and roofs being blown off during heavy showers and gusty conditions. The moderate sea conditions pose hazards to small boats, as well as recreational and marine sports activities, necessitating caution and preparedness for those involved in such activities.
