Brunei Secures Bronze in Wushu at SEA Games 2025

Bangkok: His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, SEA Games Federation Honorary Life President and President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, was present at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand to watch the Wushu event unfold at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex on the morning of December 13th.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Royal Highness presented the medals to the winners. On the fourth day of the SEA Games, Brunei’s national wushu athletes made a notable contribution by winning a bronze medal in the men’s Duilian category. The medal was secured by the pair Abel Lim Wee Yuen and Majdurano Joel Majjalah Sain. The host, Thailand, claimed the gold medal, while Indonesia took the silver.

In the men’s combined events of Changquan, DaoShu, and Gunsha, Brunei’s athlete Walid Lachkar finished in fourth place in the Changquan category. Walid Lachkar is also competing in the Daoshu category, with the Gunsha category set to occur on December 14th, 2025. The results from all three categories will be combined to determine the final medal standings.

On the women’s side, national athletes Basma Lachkar and Lim Yee Sean participated in the combined events of Taijiquan and Taijijian. In the Taijiquan category, Basma Lachkar achieved a second-place finish, while Lim Yee Sean placed ninth. Both athletes are scheduled to compete again in the Taijiquan category on December 14th, 2025, with their results from both categories being added together to determine the medal outcomes.
