Brunei muara: A Dusun ethnic couple chose Islam as their way of life by reciting the Islamic Oath at a Conversion Ceremony held in Kampung Long Mayan, Tutong District, 1st January 2026. The total number of people who have converted to Islam in Brunei Darussalam in 2025 is 274. Of the total, 70 are from the Tutong District.

According to Radio Television Brunei, present at the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Haji Mohamad Danial @ Tekpin bin Ya'akub, a Member of the Legislative Council. The couple, Awang Zaman bin Yala and Dayang Niat binti Inggong, have adopted new Islamic names, becoming Awang Muhammad Zaman bin Abdullah Yala and Dayang Nur Alniyyah Husna binti Abdullah Inggong, respectively.
