Manila: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Saturday reported the interception of parcels containing kush (high-grade marijuana) worth PHP6.8 million at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City. In a statement, BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) said the four parcels containing illegal drugs were discovered on Sept. 12. The CMEC is a Philippine Postal Corporation facility where mails and packages delivered via air travel are inspected, assessed, documented and stored. A thorough physical examination of the seized parcels revealed a total of 4,877 grams of kush, with a total estimated street value of PHP6,839,560. Authorities also found seven vape cartridges containing cannabis oil with an estimated street value of PHP11,760. District Collector Yasmin Mapa said all confiscated drugs are now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency which conducted the operation with the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group. She said the consignees will be subjected to further i nvestigation and charged with violations of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act). 'Our resolve to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into the Philippines is stronger than ever.
