Egyptian and British Foreign Ministers Discuss Economic Ties and Regional Issues Over Phone

Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty engaged in a telephone conversation with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper to explore avenues for enhancing economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries. The discussion also covered significant regional developments.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's priority to increase trade with the UK and attract more direct British investments into the Egyptian market. The conversation further addressed regional dynamics following a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran. Abdelatty stressed the importance of rebuilding trust among regional parties and addressing security concerns, specifically those related to the Gulf states.

The ministers also discussed the situation in Sudan. Abdelatty provided an update on Egypt's initiatives aimed at supporting Sudan's security and stability, and preserving its unity, sovereignty, and national institutions. He advocated for a humanitarian truce to facilitate a sustainable ceasefire and supported a Sudanese-led political process, highlighting the need for increased international efforts to ease the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
