Electrical System Projects Achieve Significant Progress Under New Contracting Strategy

Bandar seri begawan: In response to inquiries from the Appointed Members, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, elaborated on the progress of electrical system projects overseen by the Department of Electrical Services. It was highlighted that approximately 50 percent of these projects had reached completion or were significantly underway during the two-year span of the NDP 12 implementation.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat also detailed a reform in the contracting strategy employed by the Department of Electrical Services. The new approach, known as contract bundling, involves consolidating identified projects and offering them as a single package with an overall price. This strategy is designed to attract contractors with extensive experience and a strong reputation for effective implementation and adherence to project timelines.
