In a related development, 87 complaints of electricity supply disruption were lodged following the incident of heavy rain and strong wind on 17th September afternoon. The Department of Electrical Services, DES Prime Minister’s Office in a statement also announced, the disruption affected some areas in the Brunei Muara and Tutong Districts.
Electricity supply restoration works are being carried out by the DES in stages in the affected areas until 11:45, 18th September 2024, with 90 percent of the affected areas restored. DES will also work with other government agencies to ensure that electricity in the still affected areas can be restored as soon as possible. However, some restoration works will take longer due to large trees that fell onto the overhead wire line.
