Fail to Submit Income Tax Returns Leads to Fines for 30 Companies

Bandar seri begawan: 30 local companies were ordered to settle fines at the Magistrate’s Court from July until September 2025, for failing to comply with the Income Tax Act, Chapter 35, namely failing to submit Income Tax Returns.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Revenue Division, Ministry of Finance and Economy reminded that companies registered under the Companies Act, Chapter 39 are required to submit their Income Tax Returns by 30th June of the relevant Year of Assessment as mandated by the Income Tax Act.

If companies are found guilty of not submitting their Income Tax Returns, they must settle the fines imposed by the Courts and also submit their outstanding Income Tax Returns. Additionally, they are required to pay the outstanding tax amount with penalties, which can be imposed at a maximum of 17 percent of the outstanding tax, where applicable.

The following is a list of the companies and the fines they were ordered to pay:

– Sayem Sdn Bhd: BND4,000

– Cooper Macdonald Daud Sdn Bhd: BND4,000

– Nazmul Jaya Sdn Bhd: BND3,200

– Confidence Sdn Bhd: BND3,200

– Shad Sdn Bhd: BND3,200

– Foysal Jaya Sdn Bhd: BND3,000
