Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, stressed the importance of being vigilant to the international geopolitical turmoil and its impact on global economic challenges.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty highlighted that Brunei Darussalam is not immune to these global challenges, particularly if they affect the energy commodity prices that are crucial to the nation's revenue. He urged for a more aggressive implementation and resilience in drafting national development policies and strategies, focusing on the Wawasan Brunei 2035 goals. His Majesty's remarks were made during a titah at the State Opening of the First Meeting of the 22nd Session of the Legislative Council on 12th March in the morning.

Furthermore, His Majesty emphasized the need for development to be balanced with prudent spending, and made it clear that the Government will not tolerate corruption. The address began with His Majesty expressing gratitude to Allah for enabling the State Opening of the First Meeting of the 22nd Session of the Legislative Council to proceed as planned for 2026.
