ITCZ, easterlies to bring scattered rains over parts of PH Wednesday

MANILA: Some areas in the country are forecast to experience rains caused by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and the easterlies, the weather bureau said Wednesday. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan due to the ITCZ. The easterlies, on the other hand, will bring isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region. Moderate to heavy rains, as well as severe thunderstorms in the affected areas could result in flash floods and landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said. The rest of the country will continue to experience generally fair weather with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms. The whole archipelago will also continue to experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. Meanwhile, PAGASA forecaster Obet Badrina said there is a sli m chance for a tropical cyclone to develop or enter the country in the next two to three days. Two to three tropical cyclones are expected in the country this month, he said. Source: Philippines News Agency
