Belait: The Department of Zakat, Waqaf and Baitulmal Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs, has announced the extension of the 'Kembara Zakat' Programme 2026 in the Belait District. The initiative focuses on educating penghulu and village chiefs about the application process for zakat or tithe assistance under the National Welfare System. It also introduces participants to the concepts of waqaf or endowment and Baitul Mal.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the event was attended by Awang Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The programme featured a zakat clinic aimed at offering guidance and support on the procedures for applying to the National Welfare System. This included the calculation of tithe and fidyah, among other related matters.
