Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony Celebrates Quran Literacy Among Students

Gadong: In an effort to glorify the culture of reading Al-Quran and producing a generation of Al-Quran literate individuals who adhere to Islamic teachings, the practice of reading the Quran is nurtured among students starting from the beginning of their religious education. This continues until they complete the recitation of the 30 juzuk of Al-Quran by the end of Primary Six. On the afternoon of 16th June, the International Religious School Brunei held a Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony for 43 of its Standard 6 pupils at a hotel in Gadong.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the event was attended by Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam, a Member of the Legislative Council. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by the reading of surah lazim by the khatam participants. In addition to serving as a platform to promote a love for the Al-Quran, such ceremonies play a crucial role in cultivating the culture of Quran reading among the younger generation, aligning with the aspirations of creating a Zikir Nation.
