KORONADAL CITY: Three persons, including a Grade 10 pupil, died while six others were hurt in an accident along the national highway in Barangay Saravia here on Tuesday night. Police Master Sgt. Leo Dimaculangan, Koronadal City traffic chief, said two motorbikes and a government vehicle of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Soccsksargen (BFAR-12) were involved in the accident that occurred at 6 p.m. The fatalities were identified as Rogela Bayang, 25, of General Santos City, who was driving a motorcycle, and also Rhealyn Hilaria, 21, and her 15-year-old sister, both of this city, who were on a separate motorbike. 'All of them were pronounced dead on arrival in the hospital,' Dimaculangan said in an interview Wednesday. The motorbikes were hit by the BFAR-12 pickup truck after it overtook a tricycle, he added. The BFAR vehicle was heading to Koronadal while the motorcycles were traveling in the opposite direction. Injured were truck driver Pelong Dengkalan, 34, and his passengers James Enrijo, 38; Ryan Tapon, 22; Roderic Tapon, 48; Kenneth Fronda, 24; and Reynan Lara, 40, all construction workers and residents of Banga, South Cotabato. Dimaculangan said it was the fourth highway accident along the descending stretch of the road in Barangay Saravia this month. The driver is facing charges of reckless imprudence, resulting in homicide. Source: Philippines News Agency
