An individual was issued a compound fine under Miscellaneous Offences Act Chapter 30, Section 12 for disposing garbage at public places.
The Department of Environment, Park and Recreation, JASTRe issued a $300 compound fine to Muhammad Faris Bin Zamzuri for disposing garbage at Kampung Batu Marang. He was given 7 days to settle the fine. Failure to settle the compound fine, the individual can be brought before the court. If found guilty for the first offence, a fine of $1,000 will be imposed while for the second and subsequent offences, a fine of $3,000 will be imposed and imprisonment of not more than six months or both.
