The Language and Literature Bureau through the Research, Documentation and Recognition Division continued its Old Language and Words Research Project in the Brunei Muara District. The project is another part of the efforts to initiate cultural research and document all findings. The said project will be implemented in December this year.
Present was Awang Suip bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Acting Director of Language and Literature Bureau. The briefing on the project was delivered by Dayang Hajah Haireni binti Haji Awang Damit, Head of Research, Documentation and Recognition Division. Meanwhile, the old language and words research was explained by Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud bin Haji Bakyr and Associate Professor Dr. Haji Hashim bin Haji Abdul Hamid, an Expert Referral. The research is held with the aim to trace the existence of old language and words that were used and by the Bruneian community, and reintroduce it through documentation to preserve the country’s heritage. It will focus on field research, interviewing identified informants from all districts.
