Open discussion on the epic STARK-ZIPMEX to find a way to compensate the victims

Parliament, Finance and Financial Committee opens discussion on the epic STARK-ZIPMEX, along with finding ways to compensate victims, preparing to learn lessons, preventing a repeat. Reporters reported that in the meeting of the House of Representatives' Committee on Finance, Financial Institutions and Financial Markets today (July 17, 67), there was a consideration of the case of the victims of the Stark Corporation Public Company Limited (STARK) share case who wanted compensation. Mr. Nattapong Supriyasilp, Chairman of the Committee, revealed that the meeting took 3 hours to discuss the progress of the 2 cases, both STARK and ZIPMEX, but most of them were victims from STARK shareholders. Relevant agencies were invited to inquire. Most of them sent representatives of officials to explain many points that the Committee wanted to know the progress. They asked the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) but they still refused to disclose the information. However, the Committee has the authority to have the S EC disclose various information in order to take action against those involved, including executives and auditors. The SEC promised to proceed quickly and will report the results of the action by the end of this year. For the ZIPMEX case, Mr. Nattapong expects that it will be clear by the end of this month as to who will be responsible for the case at the Royal Thai Police or the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), after there has been no progress for more than 2 years. As for the compensation for the victims, which has been proposed to establish a fund to compensate victims in both the STARK and ZIPMEX cases, Mr. Nattapong said that the SEC has received the proposal from the committee. From now on, it will review any obstacles with Thai law. As for compensation for the victims, we may have to wait for the results of the Attorney General's consideration of the case to see how much criminal legal action will be taken in order to provide the greatest justice for the victims. As for the EA shares case, Mr. Nattapong admitted that no complaints had been filed yet, and today (July 17, 2024), no victims had come to file a complaint about what assistance the committee would like. However, even though there were no complaints, the committee did not neglect them. Initially, they planned to use this information to learn lessons, and they would invite relevant agencies, especially the SEC. Source: Thai News Agency
