P6.7-M worth of shabu recovered in Ilocos Norte waters

LAOAG CITY: A pack of shabu has been recovered in the waters of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, according to a report from the municipal police station on Saturday.

Maj. Carlo Abing, the town police chief, said a fisherman found a floating plastic package on the coast of Balaoi and took it home Friday.

Abing said the fisherman called the village officials’ attention and reported it to the police for examination.

The item, which weighed 998.32 grams, was examined by the Ilocos Norte Provincial Forensic Unit and was confirmed to be shabu, he said.

The value of the recovered drugs was placed at PHP6,788,576.

The police official said the recovered pack was similar to the stacks of shabu previously found in the coastal waters of Pasuquin and Burgos in Ilocos Norte and waters of Ilocos Sur between July 8 and 12.

As of this posting, police authorities here continue to conduct seaborne patrol while conducting massive information drives in coastal communities to report immediately to local authorities if they find simil
ar items or if they encounter any suspicious activity.

Meanwhile, the public is encouraged to download the police mobile service app, iPOLICE, and connect to the Philippine National Police (PNP) 24/7.
