Parliament, "Pichai" insists that the government allocates money to stimulate the economy effectively, emphasizing that it is not just thinking and doing, but thinking from day one that there must be a 'digital wallet' policy, pointing out that if we are going to solve the structural problem, we must first know who is doing it. Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira explained in the House of Representatives meeting about the draft bill on additional expenditures for fiscal year 2024, with a budget of 122 billion baht, that MPs believe that handing out money this time will create debt, that if the budget is used without sufficient revenue collection, borrowing will be required, whether from the budget itself or Section 28. This is the debt burden today and the debt that will have to be borrowed in the future. But what we see is the necessity to stimulate the economy because our economy has been continuously shrinking. Mr. Pichai pointed out that we know the problem deeply that this problem, or what some peopl e call a 10-year waste, and we did nothing, but today the incident has happened, the crisis has happened, it is a crisis that did not happen immediately, but it is a crisis that we see ahead that if we do not do anything to stimulate it, sooner or later the crisis will definitely come. Mr. Pichai mentioned the consequences of the economic crisis that will affect 3 groups: 1. People or household debt, which has a continuously increasing rate. 2. Debt of shops, which on one side is consumers themselves, which is caused by insufficient income and the reason is that the country's income is too low. We therefore have to solve the problem of this income. And 3. When the situation is like this, purchasing power decreases, inflation increases. I believe that no matter which government has a duty to take care of both the consumer and producer sectors, what we do is create debt to solve the problem. However, this debt increase is still within the scope of whether the debt is too much or too little, based on the count ry's ability to repay. I emphasize that today there is a need to continuously stimulate the economy. This is a special expense to stimulate it. And even though many people say that this will go to big capitalists, but the things that happen will definitely come back to small investors. For members who said why not fix the structure, I would like to ask that we must first know who is doing it and what is the process for solving the problem? These things are under consideration and during the BOI contract signing, which will indicate what the structural problems should be fixed and will have results alongside the production and investment processes to create competitiveness. 'Today's announcement will not happen immediately. It cannot be stimulated immediately, but it needs to be done at the right time, in line with those who come to use it,' said Mr. Pichai. For the case that it is said that there is a delay, thinking and doing as you go, why not think and finish it at once, I would like to deny that it is not thinking and doing as you go. We have thought since the first day that it is a policy that must be implemented. We have always thought that it must be adjusted to find out which way is the best choice and to allocate the budget at the time that we have chosen to spend on what we have. If we see structural problems that need to be adjusted in order for the economy to grow, that is the first choice that must be used first. But if it is about finding money to adjust and do necessary projects as well, in terms of stimulating the economy, we give it the second priority. I confirm that it is an efficient allocation of money. Source: Thai News Agency
