Price Control Act Violation


2 compound fines and 6 warning notices were issued to 8 business premises for an offence under the Price Control Act, Chapter 142, which is selling above the set maximum price and displaying misleading price tags. The compound fines and warning notices were issued following a daily routine enforcement conducted by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, DEPS, Ministry of Finance and Economy through the Department of Consumer Affairs.

2 business premises were compounded for selling above the maximum price set for price-controlled goods. Fairozdin Mini Mart was compounded $700, while Hama Department Store was issued a $500 compound fine. Meanwhile, for the first two weeks of September this year, 6 warning notices have been issued against 6 business premises including a pharmacy for the offence of selling above the maximum set price and displaying misleading price tags, which is the price tags displayed are not consistent with the price recorded in the payment system.
