Bandar seri begawan: The Regional Islamic Media Conference 2026 has convened, drawing together a diverse group of local and overseas academics, media practitioners, and researchers to deliberate on the advancement of Islamic media in today's digital landscape. The three-day event, concluding on June 4, is hosted at the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and revolves around the theme 'Da'wah and Islamic Media in the Digital Era: Challenges, Opportunities and Transformation'.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the conference was inaugurated by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. In his keynote address, the Director General of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia emphasized the necessity for Islamic media to evolve strategically, creatively, and proactively. This evolution is crucial to address the challenges posed by a digital world rife with misinformation, defamation, and conflicting narratives.
The conference also focused on transforming the da'wah model from its traditional methods to a more dynamic, interactive, and data-driven digital format, ensuring adherence to syariah principles and values.
