Sultan of Brunei Warns of Risks in Unchecked Digital Advancements

London: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, highlighted the challenges posed by digital advancements in education during a recent address. His Majesty cautioned that without a wise, balanced, and prudent approach to technology, there could be significant risks, including digital fatigue and digital addiction, which may negatively impact students' academic and mental development.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty delivered these insights during a titah at the Get-Together Ceremony with Students as well as Citizens and Residents of Brunei Darussalam in the United Kingdom and Eire. The speech emphasized the importance of managing technology use to prevent negative consequences for students.

His Majesty began the titah by expressing gratitude to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala for the opportunity to attend the significant ceremony, which allowed him to interact with Bruneian citizens and residents in the United Kingdom and Ireland. This group included students pursuing education, government officials working abroad, and families on holiday.

The gathering offered His Majesty a chance to engage with citizens living overseas, particularly students focused on their educational pursuits.
