World Autism Awareness Day Forum

Students with autism were among the most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, causing disruptions to physical routines, services, and support that they rely on. However, SMARTER has adopted and adapted quickly alongside other organisations, using online platforms so that students were able to continue their vital learning activities at home, and encouraged the active participation of their families.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stated the matter at the virtual World Autism Awareness Day Forum yesterday afternoon. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin was also proud that SMARTER continues to work hard to ensure eligible students receive COVID-19 vaccinations.

Yang Berhormat said this year’s theme ‘Empowering Inclusion in the Endemic Phase’ will also be crucial to bring about a truly caring and resilient post-pandemic future. The World Autism Awareness Day is an important day for the Autism Spectrum Disorder Management community to raise awareness of the issues surrounding Autism to the public.
