Bandar seri begawan: The 41st OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting took place virtually on June 7, where key decisions were made to ensure a stable and balanced global oil market. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office for Energy, Upstream and Downstream, represented Brunei Darussalam at the meeting.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the participating countries reaffirmed their long-standing commitment under the Declaration of Cooperation (D-o-C), emphasizing the continuation of existing crude oil production levels until the end of 2026. The meeting also highlighted the enhanced role of the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee in closely monitoring market conditions and ensuring conformity among participating countries.
Additionally, the meeting endorsed a plan developed by the OPEC Secretariat to achieve the objectives outlined in the Charter of Cooperation signed on July 2, 2019. This plan underscores the importance of completing the Maximum Sustainable Production assessment for all D-o-C countries, which will serve as a reference for 2027 production baselines. Brunei Darussalam's involvement demonstrates its ongoing support for collaborative efforts to promote stability, transparency, and long-term sustainability in the global energy market. The participating countries agreed to maintain the current level of overall crude oil production as established in the 35th OPEC and non-OPEC Ministerial Meeting, extending these terms until December 31, 2026.
