Swearing-In Ceremony for Brunei’s New Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers

Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, presided over the Swearing-In Ceremony for the newly appointed Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers. The event was held on the afternoon of June 8 at Istana Nurul Iman.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony was attended by several members of the royal family, including His Majesty's sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador At-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was also present.

The ceremony began with the reading of the Letter of Appointment for the Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers by Pengiran Haji Raffizanna bin Pengiran Haji Razali, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Governance, who acted as the Grand Chamberlain. The first to take the oath was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, who was sworn in as the Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.

Following this, several other key ministers took their oaths of office, including His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen. The ceremony also included the swearing-in of Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Coordinating Minister for National Security, and other prominent figures such as Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman.

In addition to the ministers, four deputy ministers were also sworn in, including Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani, Deputy Minister of Finance, and Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.

The ceremony concluded with the Doa Selamat, read by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Juned. The appointments for the Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers are set to take effect on Thursday, June 4, 2026, for a term of four years.
