Bandar seri begawan: The Brunei Darussalam Food Authority (BDFA) has announced a recall notice for ‘ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula’ following an outbreak of infant botulism in the United States. The recall was issued by the Food Safety Authorities Network (INFO-SAN) after cases of infant botulism were reported. Symptoms of this condition typically begin with constipation, but early signs can include difficulty in feeding, weak or altered crying, and loss of head control.

According to Radio Television Brunei, all lot numbers, can sizes, and single-serving packs of the product are affected by this recall. The formula is also sold online, and customers who have purchased it have been notified. BDFA confirmed that this brand is not commercially imported into Brunei Darussalam. However, the authority urges members of the public who have brought it into the country personally or purchased it online to stop using it immediately. They also remind the public of the potential legal consequences under the Public Health (Food) Act, which includes the possibility of imprisonment for up to five years, fines, or both, for individuals who prepare, sell, or import dangerous food.
