Brunei Crown Prince Engages in Strategic Talks with Chinese Leadership

Beijing: His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, engaged in bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and Vice President Han Zheng of the People's Republic of China. The talks focused on the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between Brunei Darussalam and China, emphasizing their historical ties and ongoing collaborative efforts.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Crown Prince highlighted the strong trade and investment cooperation between the two nations, which is reinforced by frequent high-level exchanges. The Strategic Cooperative Partnership, set to be realized by 2025, underscores the commitment of both nations to build a community with a shared future. This year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations, signifying a milestone in the growing ties and collaborative ventures between Brunei and China.

His Royal Highness stressed the importance of upholding an open and rules-based multilateral system to ensure stability and prosperity. He reaffirmed Brunei's dedication to working with China to address global challenges constructively. China's involvement through ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations has yielded significant benefits for the region, and the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in 2021 continues to contribute to regional development.

In concluding his remarks, the Crown Prince congratulated President Xi on China's upcoming hosting of the APEC Summit in 2026 and expressed Brunei's support for the event. The meeting with Vice President Han Zheng at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse further solidified the cooperative relationship, recalling the Vice President's visit to Brunei in 2024 and discussing the mutual benefits and prosperity achieved through their partnership.

His Royal Highness acknowledged China's transformative journey and, amidst geopolitical uncertainties, emphasized the need for strengthened cooperation to safeguard mutual interests and ensure sustainable economic development.
