Bandar seri begawan: Brunei Darussalam continues to demonstrate strong commitment to safeguarding the rights and protection of children, as emphasized by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in a Message in Conjunction with World Children’s Day 2025. The minister highlighted the nation’s focus on education, health, welfare, safety, and protection to ensure children grow up in a peaceful and secure environment.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad stated that, in alignment with Wawasan Brunei 2035, various efforts and strategies have been outlined to strengthen family institutions, protect children, and empower society through a holistic approach. Key initiatives include the Plan of Action on Children Wellbeing under the National Social Issues Council and the Wawasan Brunei 2035 Social Blueprint. These plans feature the Child Online Protection Framework 2013, which coordinates multi-agency efforts to ensure children’s safety online, and the National Framework on Child Protection 2021, which guides the enhancement of the child protection ecosystem.

In today’s complex digital world, children require guidance and protection from emerging threats, particularly those arising in cyberspace. Therefore, the various programs implemented by different agencies to develop and protect children are seen as highly welcome.

World Children’s Day has been celebrated annually on November 20 since 1954 to express commitment to the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. This year’s theme, ‘Listen to the Future’, emphasizes the importance of valuing children’s perspectives as a reflection of the nation’s future, ensuring their voices guide the creation of a safe and caring environment.
