Bandar seri begawan: The country aims to enhance the growth of local companies within the supply chain through innovation and partnerships with larger industry players. This initiative is intended not only to meet domestic demand but also to enable these companies to compete on a global scale. As businesses expand, so too does the country’s capacity, job opportunities, and economic sustainability. The Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Economy highlighted these goals during the launch of ‘Enterprise Growth Connect’, EGC 2025. The Deputy Minister, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, who also serves as the Joint Deputy Chairman of the Brunei Economic Development Board, emphasized the significant roles that foreign direct investment and government-linked companies play in shaping Brunei’s economic landscape. He noted that stronger relationships between FDI, GLCs, and local enterprises ensure that investments lead to increased local participation and long-term value creation.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the event, themed ‘Powering Local Participation’, was a one-day affair that gathered over 500 participants. These included micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs, along with 28 partners from various agencies and industries. The event showcased over 140 business opportunities aimed at reinforcing the local supply chain and the enterprise ecosystem.
