Brunei’s Sultan Observes National Team Clinch Silver in 33rd SEA Games Polo Final

Samut prakan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, was present to witness the final match of the 33rd SEA Games Polo event. The match, featuring Brunei Darussalam and Thailand, was held at the VS Sports Club and Siam Polo Park in Southern Bangkok. Accompanying His Majesty were his brothers, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council, and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, Team Manager of the Brunei National Polo Team, as well as his daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah.

According to Radio Television Brunei, upon His Majesty’s arrival, he was welcomed by Ms. Samonjarod Mingkumlerd, Director of the Governor’s Office and Spokesperson for the Sports Authority of Thailand, alongside Doctor Pairoj Boonkongchuen, President of the Thailand Polo Association. The Brunei team, featuring His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, and daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, competed fiercely in the final match.

The national polo team concluded the intense match with a silver medal, scoring 7.5 against Thailand’s 0. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah presented the championship medals to the winners, with Thailand taking the gold, Brunei Darussalam securing the silver, and Malaysia earning the bronze. The Brunei team is set to participate in the ‘high-goal’ Polo match scheduled for December 13, 2025, at the same venue.
