Phnom penh: H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), engaged in a productive discussion with a high-level delegation from Germany, led by Mr. Thomas Rachel, a Member of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Bundestag. The meeting took place during the delegation's official visit to Cambodia from June 1 to 3.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, the discussions underscored the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries in various frameworks. H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed gratitude for Germany's support towards Cambodia's socio-economic development. The German delegation praised Cambodia's open-door investment policies and acknowledged its rapid development.
The meeting covered strategic topics such as upcoming elections, global dynamics, and the promotion of women in the public sector. The German side appreciated Cambodia's strategic roadmap for attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). H.E. Sun Chanthol highlighted Cambodia's competitive advantages, including political stability, macroeconomic strength, and institutional reforms aimed at enhancing business ease. He also emphasized the benefits of Cambodia's Investment Law, known for its openness and attractive incentives.
The Deputy Prime Minister discussed Cambodia's mechanisms for protecting investments and resolving private sector issues through platforms like the Government-Private Sector Forum and the Public-Private Sector Dialogue. He also highlighted infrastructure progress, such as the Sihanoukville Deep Sea Port expansion and the Funan Techo Canal project, aimed at reducing transport costs and boosting regional competitiveness.
Both nations committed to enhancing their relations and working together to encourage German investment in Cambodia, aiming for mutual socio-economic benefits.
