Bandar seri begawan: The Islamic Religious Council of Brunei Darussalam, MUIB, organised a Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony in conjunction with its 70th anniversary. The event took place at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kampung Kiarong, on the morning of 31st January.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony included the reading of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, which was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and President of MUIB. The event also featured the reading of Surah Yasin and Tahlil for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit, and Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim. Members of MUIB were also in attendance.
