Flood and Landslide Impact Religious Sites and Schools in Tutong District

Tutong: Several schools, mosques, and cemeteries under the purview of the Ministry of Religious Affairs have been affected by landslides following continuous rain that triggered floods and landslides. Among the affected areas was the Luagan Kelompang Islamic Cemetery in Kampung Sinaut, Tutong District. Following the incident, the Fire and Rescue Department, the National Disaster Management Centre, and the Tutong District Office under the Ministry of Home Affairs; together with the Public Works Department, Ministry of Development; and the Building and Maintenance Division, Ministry of Religious Affairs, were at the site to assess the affected areas. According to Radio Television Brunei, a delegation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs through related departments and divisions is currently carrying out monitoring and early assessments on the condition of the affected premises and areas. This is to ensure the safety and welfare aspects as well as the continuity of operations are given attention. Follow-up ac tions will be taken in line with the assessment results with the cooperation from relevant agencies. As an early measure, said areas have been cordoned off to prevent the situation from worsening. The public, especially the school community and mosque congregants, are reminded to always prioritize safety and comply with any instructions or further information from relevant agencies.
