Bandar seri begawan: The recent Friday Sermon focused on the theme of "Becoming A Better Person," urging Muslims to engage in self-reflection, known as muhasabah, and strive for continuous self-improvement. This journey of self-betterment encompasses enhancing one's relationship with Allah the Almighty and with fellow human beings, as highlighted during the sermon.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the sermon outlined four key methods for effective self-reflection. The first method encourages individuals to recall and perfect all obligatory duties (fardhu). If any duties have been neglected, it is essential to commit to fulfilling them diligently. The second method involves reflecting on sins, transgressions, and prohibitions. Individuals are called to repent, seek forgiveness, and return to obedience if they find themselves entangled in such actions.
The third method emphasizes addressing negligence and oversights by striving to remember Allah more frequently. This can be achieved through increasing sunat or mass prayers, engaging in religious talks, reciting zikir, and reading the Al-Qur'an. The fourth and final method of self-reflection involves considering the use of body parts bestowed by the Almighty, ensuring they are used in ways that reflect gratitude and responsibility.
