Implementation of the Seasonal Maximum Price Setting

Bandar seri begawan: The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, JPES, under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, announced the implementation of the Seasonal Maximum Price Setting on seven categories of selected food items throughout Ramadhan until the first week of Syawal. This annual initiative is in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism.

According to Radio Television Brunei, in addition to the government's long-term price control measures on cooking oil, formulated powdered milk, rice, and sugar, the following essential food items will be subject to seasonal price control: whole chicken, chicken eggs, butter, margarine, ghee, flour, and condensed, evaporated, and cream milk. The full list of maximum prices can be obtained at 'deps.mofe.gov.bn'. Businesses selling above the maximum price may face penalties under the Price Control Act, including fines up to one thousand dollars for non-compliance and up to BND20,000 or five years' imprisonment for repeat offences.
