Bandar seri begawan: Brunei Identiti Digital, or Brunei ID for short, has been unveiled as a national digital identity system, serving as an electronic form of personal identification for individuals. The initiative underscores the commitment of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to enhancing digital governance and facilitating secure, convenient, and user-friendly access to government digital services.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications announced in a press release that Brunei ID allows citizens and residents to verify their digital identity when accessing government online services through a single login mechanism, which is supported by biometric authentication. This authentication is executed locally on the user's device, aligning with robust security and privacy principles. Personal data is safeguarded in line with government-established security and data protection criteria.
Initially, Brunei ID will support identity verification based on identity card information for access to selected government digital platforms, including the Public Service Commission Recruitment (PSC), the Business Reporting portal, TransportBN, BruHealth, E-Undi, and the Talian Darussalam 123 app. Registration for Brunei ID can be completed through the Brunei ID mobile app, which will be available for download on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store starting 3 January 2026.
Further details, including user guides and feedback channels, can be found on the official Brunei ID website. The public is encouraged to provide feedback to facilitate the ongoing enhancement of Brunei ID. For additional inquiries or assistance, individuals can contact Talian Darussalam 123.
