Launch of His Majesty’s Personal Gift of Dates Distribution: A Symbol of Unity and Blessing

Bandar seri begawan: His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Committee of Governors, announced that His Majesty's Personal Gift of Dates is set to bring distinction to the nation as it welcomes Ramadhan. This initiative is also intended to foster a sense of love and unity among the people. According to Radio Television Brunei, His Royal Highness delivered the Sabda during the Launching Ceremony of the Distribution of His Majesty's Personal Gift of Dates for Ramadhan 1447 Hijrah/2026. He emphasized that this tradition of personal gifts has become a customary practice in the country as Ramadhan approaches, reinforcing a shared cultural and religious identity. The ceremony took place at Dewan An-Naura, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, on the morning of 10th February. His Royal Highness was welcomed by distinguished figures including Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Ma jor General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, who serves as Chairman of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Board of Directors. Other key attendees included Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, and Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education, along with other prominent officials. The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz. In welcoming remarks, the Chairman of the Yayasan Board of Directors highlighted the overwhelming support and participation from involved parties, reflecting a trend of consensus and cohesion. He expressed hopes that this practice would continue to be embraced as a religious duty blessed by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, bringing further bl essings and rewards to the nation. His Royal Highness reiterated that the Yayasan will actively ensure the distribution of dates to all Muslim citizens and residents, covering various societal segments. The distribution includes 160.2 metric tonnes of Safawy dates, with each individual receiving a 300-gram box of dates. The event concluded with a doa selamat, read by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz, reflecting a prayerful and solemn closure to the ceremony.
