Minister of Education’s School Visits Highlight Importance of Attendance

Bandar seri begawan: Parents and guardians are urged to cooperate in ensuring that their children attend school sessions so that they do not fall behind in their learning, especially for those within the age range of the Compulsory Education Act. The reminder was made by the Ministry of Education following the start of the First Term School Session for the Academic Year 2026.

According to Radio Television Brunei, to take a closer look at the implementation of activities and initiatives in conjunction with the start of the first term school session, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education and delegation, visited several schools on the morning of January 5th.

The amendment to the Compulsory Education Act, Section 211, which was implemented in 2024, mandates that children who have reached the age of 5 are required to attend school, particularly those who are citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam. For children who have not yet had the opportunity to be registered, parents or guardians are still given the opportunity to register at government primary schools according to their respective catchment areas.
