Bandar seri begawan: The Syariah Court has long been a pivotal institution in upholding justice based on Syara' Law and the prevailing legal provisions. Over its 25 years of establishment, notable improvements have been made, including enhancements to the judiciary through various Acts, Orders, and procedural laws. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syar'ie Judge, emphasized these advancements during the Opening Ceremony of the Syariah Courts Open Day 2026, part of the Silver Jubilee Celebration.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Chief Syar'ie Judge highlighted the expanded jurisdiction of the Syariah Court, particularly following the enforcement of the Syariah Penal Code, Chapter 275, and the Syariah Courts Criminal Procedure Code, Chapter 224. These developments have increased the court's prominence among legal practitioners both locally and internationally. The Syariah Court has also focused on strengthening its services and case management through digital technology to deliver quality services.

The Opening Day was inaugurated by the Chief Syar'ie Judge and featured the launch of the book "Celebrating the Silver Jubilee of 25 Years of the Establishment of the Syariah Courts." The event, held at the Brunei High Court And Syariah Courts Building, runs for two days until May 20th. It includes interactive exhibitions, information sessions on court jurisdiction and services, and service clinics. The event is open to the public from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 to 4:30 PM.
