Bandar seri begawan: The Ministry of Religious Affairs, through the Shariah Affairs Department, has announced that food and beverage premises in the country are prohibited from offering, promoting, or using any terms that suggest Halal certification for Ramadhan-themed meals if they have not obtained an official Halal Certificate. According to Radio Television Brunei, this restriction applies to terms such as "Ramadhan Buffet", "Sungkai Buffet", "Iftar", "Ramadhan Set", and "Sahur Buffet", or any similar expressions that imply meals for breaking fast or sahur. The Shariah Affairs Department, through its Halal Food Control Division, will conduct monitoring and inspections on premises that promote such dishes without a valid Islamic Religious Council of Brunei Halal Certificate. Premises found in violation of the Halal Certificate and Halal Label Order will face legal action. Convictions could lead to a fine of up to BND8,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both. For further information, individuals are encouraged to contact the Halal Food Control Division hotline at 710 3111 or visit their office in Bandar Seri Begawan or other districts.
