Special Munajat Marks 70th Anniversary of MUIB

Kiarong: The priority of the Islamic Religious Council of Brunei Darussalam, commonly known as MUIB, is to ensure that Islamic teachings are understood, disseminated, and practiced effectively. This was the key message delivered by the Minister of Religious Affairs, who is also the Yang Di-Pertua of MUIB, during the Special Munajat held in conjunction with MUIB's 70th Anniversary. The event took place at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kiarong, on the afternoon of February 14th.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman emphasized the importance of MUIB as a policy-making body that guides the direction of Islamic administration in Brunei Darussalam. He also highlighted the Constitution of Brunei Darussalam, which designates Islam as the official religion while allowing peaceful practice of other religions.

The Minister of Religious Affairs led the reading of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah during the event. The ceremony was further enriched by a Tazkirah, or lecture, delivered by Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @ Maidin, the Deputy State Mufti and a member of MUIB. Among the attendees were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, and Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Syar'ie Judge and MUIB member.
