Training-Of-Trainers Initiative Pioneers Obesity Care Programme

Bandar seri begawan: The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), has conducted a groundbreaking Training of Trainers on the Obesity Chronic Care Programme. This two-day workshop marks a significant step in enhancing national capabilities to tackle obesity through a primary health care approach.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the participants included medical specialists, nurses, and allied health professionals from relevant departments under the Ministry of Health. The workshop aimed to build the capacity of healthcare providers, focusing on equipping frontline health workers and primary care physicians with the necessary knowledge and skills for comprehensive, integrated, and continuous management of obesity. The sessions highlighted the importance of a multidisciplinary approach within a long-term chronic care programme. Facilitators included officers from the WHO Representative Office for Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, and Singapore, the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, and WHO Headquarters in Geneva.
