In conjunction with International Women's Day, in last night's News at Ten highlights the contribution of women to national development across various sectors.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the 2024 Labour Force Survey of the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics shows that the participation rate of women in the workforce continues to increase, reflecting the increasingly prominent role of women in national development.
Statistics for the same year also show that out of 222,300 employed persons, 88,600 were women. This number increased from 86,300 women in 2023.
The education sector has witnessed the dominance of women as teachers, lecturers, and institutional leaders. Through their commitment to educating the younger generations, women do not only impart knowledge but also strive to shape students' character and instill noble values.
In the healthcare sector, women's contributions are not only supportive in nature, but also form the backbone of the effectiveness of the national healthcare system. Not only do women contribute to the workforce, but they also bring empathy, meticulousness, resilience and leadership.
The participation of women in the legal field has also seen a significant increase. Women in this country not only serve as lawyers but also hold key positions within the national judiciary, thereby acting as a catalyst for a more inclusive and progressive justice system.

Aircraft engineering was once dominated by men, but today women's participation in this field has seen a commendable increase. The profession demands high precision and strong technical expertise from women.
