Brunei Darussalam Braces for Active Weather Conditions Amid Northeast Monsoon

Brunei: Brunei Darussalam is currently experiencing the Northeast Monsoon season, a period forecasted to last until March 2026. Active weather conditions are anticipated to persist until the 12th of January.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department has advised that showers, which can be heavy and thundery at times, are expected to affect several areas across the country. These weather conditions are most likely to occur in the afternoons and at night, with a possibility of persisting into the early morning hours. Wind gusts could reach up to 45 kilometers per day during or near heavy and thundery showers, posing potential hazards.

Sea conditions are reported to be in a moderate to rough state, which may impact maritime activities. The Meteorological Department has also highlighted a significant risk of flash floods, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, urging residents to exercise caution during this period.
